In the 2021-22 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating 2,000 students, kindergarten through ninth grade, in the North and Westsides of Jacksonville, Florida:

  • KIPP Impact Academy: 5th – 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 6th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP VOICE Academy will be located at 813 Golfair Blvd (32209). Our other three schools will operate at our main campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue N (32254).

Job Description

Ideal Start: June 2021

KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville seeks a Manager of Data and Assessment Systems to support the management, maintenance, and constant improvement of our data system environment. The Manager of Data & Assessment Systems at KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville will provide accurate, timely, and relevant data that requires the meticulous upkeep of a complex system of data tools. 

The Manager of Data and Assessment Systems will primarily ensure that the data systems which support teaching and learning in our schools operate efficiently. At the start of the school year there is a heavy focus on set up, rostering, and professional development. The middle of the school year brings assessments, progress monitoring, and supporting new students. The end of the year will be very focused on state assessments and preparation for the new school year. 

The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for racial justice and equity for all children and thrive on helping people. This means that a candidate understands  that every data point is a child, and they keep a lens on mitigating bias and stereotypes. Additionally, a candidate is not fazed by a request for support first thing in the morning, and is happy to explain things multiple times with a smile. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional attention to detail by checking information many times to ensure they are certain it is right. 

KEY DUTIES

Data Systems Management

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize our major data systems: Illuminate, Whetstone, Clever
  • Ensure users across the organization have access to the systems they need in order to do their jobs
  • Build all pre-created shared regional assessments in our assessment platform, Illuminate
  • Support gradebook setup in Illuminate
  • Maintain a complex system of Google Sheets that house a significant volume of student data

Assessment Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction on creating and maintaining the KIPP Public Schools regional assessment calendar
  • Serve as the lead Testing Coordinator for KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville
  • Support implementation and administration of NWEA’s MAP, DIBELS, and Florida State Assessments, including set up, rostering, training, and tracking completion

Instructional Technology Management

  • Manage student rostering systems and processes and manage the integration of student information system rosters with educational technology systems
  • Serve as the main point of contact with all instructional technology vendors
  • Assess the effectiveness of instructional technology programs by analyzing usage and student progress data

Professional Development and Support

  • Manage data team helpdesk ticketing system and ensure timely response and resolution to all helpdesk requests
  • Develop handbooks and other tools to help staff learn the data systems and troubleshoot independently
  • Create a menu of professional development offerings, including guides, training videos, and workshops, and conducting training sessions as requested
  • Train new staff in use of data systems and how to run reports in systems

REQUIREMENTS

  • High level of comfort with technology
  • Interest and ability to quickly learn new technologies, particularly blended learning and web-based assessment applications.
  • Proficiency manipulating data in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, formulas, data validation, vlookups, match/index).
  • Ability to compare and reconcile data from disparate sources and systems
  • Experience pulling data from web-based applications
  • Working reproducibly (so that colleagues can follow and extend your work)
  • Minimum of three years of experience 
  • Experience as a teacher AND/OR experience in a school, district, or non-profit setting
