  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

Job Description

This position would start July 2021 with other teachers and staff for professional development. 

POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks a Behavior Interventionist/ISS Coordinator. The BI will ensure the KIPP Bold City High School’s community is invested in a vision of positive school culture. The BI partners with teachers and school leadership to create behavior intervention plans for students with severe behaviors, support the implementation of such plans and serves as an additional resource for scholars and families. The BI will typically work with students across all grade levels in the school community and will work closely with teachers, learning specialist, counselors and administrators to do whatever it takes to ensure all students are able to learn in a safe, welcoming environment. The BI will assist when teachers need additional support with students, run in school suspension, and document behavior data.

Specific duties might include:

  • Running in school suspension
  • Creating behavior intervention plans for students with sever behaviors on their caseload
  • Monitoring and tracking referral data for students to be added to a caseload
  • Support existing behavior intervention plans (daily check-ins with students, family communication and/or meetings, check-ins with staff members)
  • Monitoring students’ academic progress continues outside of the classroom during times where intervention or time out of the classroom is warranted
  • Ensure reflection meetings with students on the caseload are positive with clear next steps for the student
  • Partnering with other staff members to ensure families have access to a variety of resources in and out of our school community
  • Other duties as assigned

As a part of the school-based non-instructional team, this role is responsible for creating a positive environment for their students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team, and other duties as assigned. Full responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

For the 2020-21 school year, teachers at KIPP Bold City High School will work from 6:45a.m. - 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours will be  7:15 a.m. -2:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (12:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

  • An Associate's Degree

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with implementing restorative practices in a school setting
  • Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting (i.e. a paraprofessional, a substitute, a tutor, or a similar role)
  • Experience working with students at the K-8 grade levels
