  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 8th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th and 10th grades

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks full-time, salaried substitutes to work in our schools. These substitute teachers might provide coverage in several ways. One way might be to work in one position for a long-term placement, for example providing coverage while a teacher is out on leave. Another way would be providing rotating coverage or "floating" when teachers are absent or are reporting elsewhere. In the event that there were no absences, this position would be pulled to help prepare for upcoming sub days or assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

This position would start July 18th, 2022 and run through the whole 2022-23 school year. 

Substitutes will have an instructional coach/manager that will help them prepare and/or execute high-quality lesson plans. They are expected to maintain high expectations for both behavior and academics in the classroom, and communicate with the team to ensure a smooth transition in classrooms. 


For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work from 7:30 am. - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically  8am - 3:30pm. Staff hours vary slightly at each of our K-8 schools. Staff hours at the high school are 6:30am - 3:30pm and student hours are 7:00am - 2:30 pm. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 pm dismissal for K-8 and 12:30pm dismissal at the high school), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's Degree (or 60 completed college credits)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Clear path to obtaining a Florida Teaching Certification
