In the 2021-22 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating 2,000 students, kindergarten through ninth grade, in the North and Westsides of Jacksonville, Florida:

·        KIPP Impact Academy: 5th – 8th grade

·        KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 6th grade

·        KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade

·        KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP VOICE Academy will be located at 813 Golfair Blvd (32209). Our other three schools will operate at our main campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue N (32254).

KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville seeks elementary teachers for our kindergarten through fourth grade classrooms in the 2020-21 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

For the 2021-22 school year, teachers at KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

+ Kindergarten and first grade: some lead teachers in our kindergarten or first grade classrooms will work with a certified, novice teacher (fellow) in their classroom. In this co-teaching model, lead teachers share the responsibility and accountability of their classroom with the teaching fellow. Class size is approximately 26 students. The other classrooms in kindergarten and first grade feature a single certified teacher where class size is approximately 17 students and is not part of the co-teaching model. All kindergarten and first grade classrooms are self-contained and are responsible for at least English Language Arts and math instruction.

+ Second grade: all lead teachers in second grade are self-contained and are responsible for at least English Language Arts and math instruction. Average class size is approximately 26 students.

+ Third and fourth grade: all lead teachers are departmentalized. A single lead teacher in each classroom is responsible for teaching specific subjects (e.g. only math). Class size is approximately 26 students. In this model, most teachers plan for one subject and teach lessons to multiple cohorts of students.

Please note that fifth grade is considered part of our middle school model and is part of a separate application.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience.

• Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (Elementary Education K-6 or Pre-K-Primary-Grade 3)
• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
