In the 2021-22 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating 2,000 students, kindergarten through ninth grade, in the North and Westsides of Jacksonville, Florida:

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 6th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP VOICE Academy will be located at 813 Golfair Blvd (32209). Our other three schools will operate at our main campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue N (32254).

Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW 

KIPP Jacksonville Schools seeks an inspiring world cultures teacher for grades K-6. The WC teacher will lead daily social studies instruction rooted in Florida social studies standards while incorporating African American studies, and projects across all grade levels. This educator should have a clear vision for social studies across the school that includes students engaging in learning about a variety of cultures. Social studies instruction will supplement other core academic areas and align with English Language Arts instruction. 

This is a full time position and will work closely in our existing specials department which includes P.E., science, and music currently. As a specials teacher, they would see students across all grade levels and be responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned.  Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

For the 2021-22 school year, teachers at KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

The specials schedule is subject to change and can vary from school to school.

The specials team consists of five teachers for the entire school. Each specials teacher instructs students across all grade levels. Depending on the specials area subject, the teacher may travel to classrooms or have students transition to their own classroom space. Class size is typically ~26 students. Specials teachers typically see each class of students once a week since they see students across grades K-6.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience.

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in K-6
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
