Job Description

Position Overview:

The Manager of English Learners (EL) Support Services is a network-level position and will work across all KIPP Nashville schools to ensure that all EL students within KIPP Nashville reach their full academic potential. The Manager of EL Support Services will provide leadership, supervision, guidance, and support for the English Language Learners (ELL) Program by: recommending, interpreting and implementing policies to ensure compliance with EL district and state rules, regulations, and policies; providing supervision, guidance, and technical assistance to school-based staff working with EL students at all schools; and serving as a supplemental instructional leader by conducting observations to identify trends, coaching teachers and school leaders on best practices, planning and executing professional development, and providing resources and guidance to teachers of ELs.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Manager of EL Support Services include, but are not limited to:

Curriculum Development and Instructional Leadership

  • Conduct observations and provide feedback to teachers and/or school leaders that will enhance lesson development and implementation to ensure the continued growth and development of EL students

  • Enhance schools’ ELL programs by strengthening the foundation of EL support provided to teachers, staff and students

  • Plan and execute professional development sessions at the school and regional levels to supplement teacher development in their work with EL students

  • Seek and provide instructional resources for teachers, school and region leaders

  • Evaluate and make curriculum recommendations to enhance the ELL program

  • Analyze region wide and school specific data, identify trends and influence regional and school team responses

EL Compliance:

  • Ensure that all EL students are properly identified and served

  • Demonstrate knowledge of federal laws and guidelines 

  • Ensure that all program documents, waivers, and reports are completed and filed to meet state and federal guidelines, including, but not limited to ILPs, testing schedules, and required parent documentation

  • Educate teachers and staff on state-mandated requirements, trainings, certification processes and deadlines

  • Collaborate with Directors of Operations to ensure that all testing protocols are met with respect to all district and state testing, including, but not limited to, ensuring that all EL students are properly coded across all school systems, appropriate testing materials are secured for all identified EL students, and all identified EL students are administered the appropriate assessments in accordance with state testing guidelines, policies, and procedures 

  • Stay current on all state and federal required mandates associated with ELL program, attending state trainings on program changes

  • Monitor all data associated with EL students

  • Provide teacher training demonstrating the use and knowledge student needs to incorporate instructional strategies in classrooms

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience working with EL students

  • Demonstrated ability in raising the achievement levels of EL students

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience coaching and supporting other EL teachers in instruction and compliance

  • Experience leading and facilitating professional development

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of KIPP Nashville; comfort and willingness to actively participate in the KIPP Nashville community

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Additional Information

Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. This position is non-exempt and follows a 12-month administrative schedule.
