Job Description
The Opportunity
The Facilities Technician is part of the Facilities Department, and is responsible for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and improvement projects at one or more assigned facilities. The Facilities Technician will work on various systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance. As a key member of the statewide Facilities Team, the Facilities Technician will work under the direction and report to an experienced Sr. Facilities Technician and/or Campus Facilities Manager, and will have opportunities for on-the-job training and formal professional development. This role furthers the mission of KIPP by providing a clean and safe learning environment for students and faculty.
Key Responsibilities
Previous experience in maintenance and/or other related fields
Manage and maintain all building systems: burglar and fire alarms, elevators, HVAC, irrigation systems, fire systems and all other systems
Responsible for the campus buildings and grounds, including basic carpentry repairs, drywall/paint, pest control, lawn care, plumbing and basic electrical repairs
Performs HVAC, electrical, plumbing and preventative maintenance that include analysis, troubleshooting, and repairs
Execute work orders and event setups in a timely fashion with high standards of quality
Estimate time and extent of repairs
Experienced with maintenance tools and equipment
Maintain material and supply inventory
Oversee work performed by outside contractors as necessary
Assist the Sr. Facilities Technician in maintaining the operation of the campus and daily operations of the facility
Perform regular walkthroughs and inspections of campus’ interiors and exterior
Flexibility in work schedule, on call response during and after operating hours
Attend staff meetings, professional development meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required certification for subject and level assigned*
Demonstrated knowledge of core subject area assigned
Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00).
