Job Description

KIPP Texas Student Support Services (S3) is a multi-disciplinary network of general and special educators, counselors, social workers, nurses and clinic assistants. The S3 team exists to prevent, respond to, and minimize the barriers to learning that KIPP Texas students may experience. The S3 Clinic Coordinator provides will work collaboratively with all campus-based staff and will oversee the provision of School Health Services for their assigned schools in Dallas. This position furthers the mission of KIPP Texas by promoting and protecting the optimal health status of KIPP students and faculty. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Report regional data from mandated health screenings to the Director of Student Wellness and conducting these screenings and subsequent data input.

  • Monitor student health plans and services provided to students with chronic illnesses in the region

  • Participate, with members of the S3 team, in developing workshops for teachers and faculty on health-related topics

  • Track and record student health, immunization data and medication administration for their assigned schools.

  • Conduct Medication administration and support in health relates meetings at assigned schools

  • Keep the Director of S3 informed of regional School Health needs on a routine basis

  • Provide technical support to all front office staff as well as input to school leaders regarding front office supports.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant required 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; Experience collaborating with team members
  • Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment in diagnosis and decision-making
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Possession of a passionate and loving attitude toward all children
  • Responsiveness; Follow-up and follow-through with students, families, and school personnel is essential  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines

Education and Knowledge

  • GED Diploma
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification
  • Vision/Hearing Screening Certification
  • Participates in the surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases. Complies with reporting guidelines.
  • Educates students, family members and faculty. Promotes a wellness environment and ensures the health, comfort and safety of students.
  • Acanthosis Nigricans Screening Certification
  • Trained Scoliosis screener
  • Understanding of child growth and development
  • Understanding of basic health care procedures 

Preferred but not Required

  • Experience working with children with disabilities preferred. At least one of these years in a school setting.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
