Job Description

Position Overview:

KIPP Nashville is committed to providing a college preparatory math and science education to all students. The Manager of Elementary Math and Science Curricula plays a critical role in realizing this mission by providing schools with high-quality curriculum materials that are vertically aligned to our middle school curriculum, ensuring that every KIPP Nashville elementary student is ready to matriculate into rigorous middle school STEM courses. The Manager of Elementary Math and Science Curriculum will report directly to the Head of Schools.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Manager of Elementary Math and Science Curricula include, but are not limited to:

Curriculum Frameworks:

  • Manage the elementary STEM curriculum, including:

    • K – 4 standards aligned math curriculum with scope and sequences, daily aims, opening tasks and exit tickets.

    • Development of K-2 standards aligned science curriculum (to phase in over multiple years)

    •  K – 2 CGI curriculum with problem-type sequences, daily problems, comprehension questions and aligned number sentences.

  • Build a scope and sequence for a K-2 cumulative review math meeting (new 20-21 initiative)

  • Collaborate with the Head of Schools to create a 21-22 vision for the K – 2 math block.

  • Drive aligned implementation of curriculum through K – 4 Regional Module Study Meetings.

Assessment and Data-Driven Instruction (DDI):

  • Write and/or edit assessments for K – 4 STEM, including:

    • Math Mid-Module Assessments (K-1)

    • Math Topic Assessments (2-4)

    • End-of-Module Assessments (K-4)

    • Mathematics Interim Assessments (K-4)

    • Science Assessments (K-2, as they phase in)

  • Manage yearly K – 4 math and eventual K-2 science assessment calendars and scope and sequences for the region.

  • Create and manage K – 2 CGI assessments.

  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Team to action plan instructional technology needs and communicate to DOOs/SLs.

  • Ensure all K – 4 STEM assessments are in Illuminate for school teams’ use

  • Manage K – 4 math assessment edits

Professional Development

  • Plan and lead summer PD to launch shared vision and build teacher toolkit

  • Plan and lead shared PD during the year to support ongoing teacher execution

  • Co-observe with Head of Schools, Elementary on a bi-weekly rotation to drive alignment of execution

Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience teaching elementary math and/or science courses

  • Demonstrated ability to drive student success

  • Experience in curriculum support, such as assessment writing and/or scope and sequence management.

  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision and values of KIPP Nashville; comfort and willingness to actively participate in the KIPP Nashville community

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Additional Information

Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. This position is exempt and will follow a 12 month administrative schedule.
