In the 2021-22 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating 2,000 students, kindergarten through ninth grade, in the North and Westsides of Jacksonville, Florida:

  • KIPP Impact Academy: 5th – 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 6th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP VOICE Academy will be located at 813 Golfair Blvd (32209). Our other three schools will operate at our main campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue N (32254).

Job Description

Position Overview    
KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville seeks an academic interventionist. The interventionist focuses on supporting students as an extra layer of support beyond their core academic instruction. The interventionist role includes, but is not limited to, pulling small groups, tracking academic progress, ensuring students are accessing blended learning pieces that support their growth, partnering with classroom teachers to ensure student interventions are effective, and other duties as assigned.

All teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader. 

For the 2021-22 school year, teachers at KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows paraprofessionals to participate in weekly professional development.

Depending on the grade levels the interventionist works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Our compensation is very competitive and is commensurate with experience 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Equivalent (K-6 Elementary Education OR Middle Grades 5-9 ELA,)
  • Reading Endorsement
  • At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Passing a background check, as required by law.

Highly Preferred Qualifications          

  • Ability to demonstrate results from small group instruction
  • Additional certifications in ESE K-12 or the subject area the interventionist supports in
  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
