Job Description
KIPP Chicago seeks a full-time Data Systems Coordinator for our Regional Data Team. This junior level position is based in Chicago, IL and has a start date of July 1, 2022. The Data Systems Coordinator reports to our Managing Director of Data Science & Analytics and collaborates extensively with our Data Analyst, and will use their data management and analysis skills to ensure educational equality and equity for students. While this position is focused primarily on academic-related programs/systems, it also includes fluency with and utilization of Paycor, our Human Resources Information System (HRIS), and collaboration with our Director of Human Resources, to support staff members’ HR needs.
The KIPP Chicago Data Team serves an internal advisory function, supporting schools and regional teams (academic, talent, alumni support, operations, HR) with analysis, prediction, and data systems support. The Data Team’s work runs the gamut from performing ad hoc analyses and decision support for regional leaders to servicing the software necessary for everyday learning. A significant portion of our work involves coordinating various software platforms, using the R programming language and Google Cloud Platform products, and Python and SQL in use and in production.
The Data Systems Coordinator's top priorities are ensuring that the data systems that support teaching and learning in our schools operate efficiently, analyzing the data these systems collect and generate, and supporting staff HR needs via our HRIS. This may mean troubleshooting with school operations staff, huddling with the Director of HR, or analyzing data during our weekly Data Team meeting. No day is typical, but there are cycles throughout the year. Systems turn-over, set-up, and rostering occur at the start of the school year. In the middle of the year are interim assessments and pilots of new technology. The end of the year sees many compliance and data reconciliation tasks come to the fore. At times there might be an “all-hands-on-deck” research task to help with a new priority.
The Data Systems Coordinator's responsibilities include the following:
Manage, maintain, and optimize our three major student data tracking systems: PowerSchool, DeansList, and Illuminate
Integrate student information system student rosters with educational technology rosters and maintain rostering systems through Clever
Ensure data integrity across systems
Serve as liaison between schools and ed tech companies, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues and elevating problems to vendors when necessary
Review and resolve data tickets as they come through from teachers
Maintain student information systems by keeping track of rosters and transfers and enrollment
Manage progress report and report card publishing processes
Optimize data collection practices with vendors & internal stakeholders like our Managing Director of Operations and Heads of Schools
Work with the Director of HR to maintain the data integrity of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
Work with the Director of HR to test and troubleshoot new staff-facing applications and HRIS updates
Review and resolve HR tickets as they come through from staff members
While the day-to-day work you’ll do is focused on systems, we will build in time to ensure you can develop your skills in data analysis & coding.
