Job Description
The Role
As a Senior DevOps, you will guide and drive the strategic development of advanced CI/CD pipelines and scalable, secure cloud infrastructure. You play a crucial role in architecting and automating infrastructure provisioning, implementing advanced monitoring solutions, and leading incident response efforts. In addition to providing mentorship to junior and mid-level team members, your responsibilities also include optimizing application performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and staying at the forefront of emerging technologies.
What will your day-to-day be like?
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage and support the DevOps team through regular 1:1 meetings, performance appraisals, and ongoing feedback.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and collaboration.
- Identify training and development needs to ensure the team remains up to date and highly skilled.
- Define clear KPIs/OKRs, review them biannually, and report team progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Promote a healthy team dynamic by facilitating open communication, motivation, and well-being.
Technical Ownership & Delivery
- Take full ownership of infrastructure across local, hosted, and cloud environments, ensuring availability, scalability, security, and redundancy.
- Design and architect robust, fault-tolerant solutions to support new initiatives and evolving needs.
- Drive the adoption and improvement of tools and processes that enhance Continuous integration and overall development workflows.
- Remain up to date with the latest technologies and best practices, promoting consistent standards across the team.
Project & Workflow Management
- Contribute to the planning and design of quarterly and annual product roadmaps.
- Build and manage sprint plans in JIRA, prioritizing tasks to ensure alignment with goals and delivery timelines.
- Lead daily stand-ups to monitor progress, remove blockers, and provide hands-on support as needed.
- Actively participate in technical tasks, including coding, reviewing code, and providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align priorities, resolve dependencies, and ensure successful execution.
- Track and report on project status and key performance indicators to all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Experience and Qualifications:
- A Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in similar functions.
- Experience leading by example, so you are a senior-level DevOps with strong and successful technical lead experience.
- Infrastructure as Code & Provisioning: Extensive experience with tools like Ansible and Terraform for automated server and service provisioning.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Proficiency with Linux containers (e.g., Docker) and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (our core orchestration layer).
- Networking & Security: Strong understanding of network and firewall management (e.g., iptables), as well as WAFs (preferably Cloudflare WAF) and Zero Trust access solutions (e.g., Teleport Cloud).
- CI/CD & GitOps: Solid experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI and ArgoCD for GitOps workflows.
- Monitoring & Logging:
- Logs: Hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack (ELK), FluentBit, and Wazuh for log collection, correlation, and threat detection.
- Metrics: In-depth knowledge of the Prometheus ecosystem for metrics collection and alerting.
- Databases: Operational experience with managing and monitoring clustered database setups, including: MongoDB clusters; ClickHouse clusters; PostgreSQL clusters
- Experience working in environments subject to PCI DSS requirements, with knowledge of secure system design, access control, logging, and vulnerability management.
