Job Description
Business Advisor/Senior Accountant
Joyful Jobs is recruiting on behalf of a local tax & accounting firm. This position specializes in CFO advisory services, small business startups and development, income tax planning and preparation, financial analysis, and payroll tax reporting.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
provide management advisory services to a wide range of business enterprises,
perform high level accounting, including charts of accounts and financial report development, financial performance analysis, full charge bookkeeping oversight, and
perform income tax planning and preparation for individuals and entities
This individual must be highly skilled in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office and must be organized, detail oriented, accurate, proactive, confident, articulate, client-focused and a team player.
Duties
Establish and maintain the accounting systems of small business clients. This includes maintenance of the chart of accounts, financial report formats and databases.
Prepare financial statements, analyze performance, and make recommendations for business issues requiring corrective action.
Prepare and present, on a periodic basis, Financial Impact Reports to clients.
Oversee bookkeeper duties of entering sales and cash receipts, purchase invoices and payments, and payroll transactions. Review and approve bookkeeper journal entries.
Ensure client bank statement reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
Oversee and approve payroll and prepare all required payroll tax reports.
Instruct clients in the use of QuickBooks and assist them in the resolution of software problems.
Maintain budget information and prepare forecasts as required.
Prepare Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and PowerPoint presentations.
Maintain the Client Work-In-Progress Status Report (Firm 350), logging in all incoming work and checking off work elements as they are completed.
Monitor and be accountable for engagement clients assigned to you on the Client Matrix.
Maintain excellent client relations, responding promptly to communications and keeping clients informed of issues and the like.
Enter client time and billing information into QuickBooks and maintain and be accountable for budget to actual hour performance for clients assigned to you.
Prepare personal and entity income tax returns.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Education, Credentials and Experience Requirements
CPA or Enrolled Agent
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
Minimum of five years in public accounting, or corporate accounting/finance
Minimum of three years income tax planning and preparation
Required Hard and Soft Skills
Must be able to work well with others
Must have excellent customer service skills
Must be analytical
Must be able to provide advisory services to small business
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in QuickBooks, ProAdvisor Certification preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in tax software, especially in Ultratax
Ability to set up small business accounting systems
Must be accurate and quick, while paying close attention to details
Must be able to maintain client reporting schedules
Bilingual in English and Spanish a significant plus
Compensation/Benefits
Base salary before bonuses, is $56,000-$93,000 annually, DOE
