Design, install, upgrade, maintain, and tune Oracle 10g/11g Databases 

* Ensure the availability, performance and scalability of the production database infrastructure 

* Capacity planning, auditing, and database/application performance optimization 

* Perform backup/disaster recovery planning and execution 

* Implement automation of ongoing administration and maintenance tasks 

* Tune and improve application SQL code, database configuration parameters and system disk configurations * Review, recommend and enforce database best practices and standards 

* Generate UNIX shell and SQL (PL/SQL or similar) scripts 

* Provide 24/7 support for critical situations and take rotated on call coverage 

* Evaluate & recommend new database technologies 

* Provide complete documentation on developed recommendations and solutions 

Required Skills: 

* Must have at least 4-5 years of Oracle DBA experience with handling of medium or large database in a UNIX environment 

* Extensive experience with Oracle 10g and 11g 

* Deep functional knowledge of Oracle Internals: engines, query plans, join mechanisms, statistics and optimizer 

* Extensive experience and knowledge of Oracle technologies such as Partitioning, Dataguard, Streams, ASM, RAC and RMAN 

* Knowledge of SQL query performance tuning, explain plans, execution plans and histograms 

* Expertise in managing database objects like partition/non-partitioned tables and large indexes 

* Experience with very large database systems (VLDB) 

* Ability to work in a 24x7 customer facing environment 

* Strong problem solving skills and strong desire to learn new technologies.
