Job Description

Overview:

To prepare and develop cost estimates for all commercial (and technical) bids in order to try and secure select construction projects for Parissis, Structural and Fit Out, and to plan, manage and coordinate the activities of buyers, purchasing officers and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, and services.

Responsibilities:

1. Estimating:

Coordinate and manage the tendering process.
Plan and manage the activities and employees involved in producing a competitive and compliant offer including the submission documentation.
Coordinate and manage the tendering process.
Identify and obtain technical documentation to support pricing.
Obtain planning input to support the pricing.
Oversee preparation and float enquiry documentation by procurement section.
Maintain tender suppliers and subcontractors register.
To develop tender cost summaries including equipment, material and labour calculations for final approval.
Evaluate subcontractor proposals and recommend acceptance or otherwise.
Review and analyse contract documents.
Identify potential pricing risks, currency exchange risks, program risks.
Conduct a well versed presentation to the client in a timely manner.
Attend client meetings.
Prepare potential value engineering and saving.

2. Procurement:

Assist the Procurement Manager in formulating policies with suppliers and subcontractors, and implement new procurement strategies internationally.
Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training.
Prepare and process purchase request for supplies, subcontractors and equipment.
Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
 

Qualifications

Degree Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum of  experience in Estimating and Procurement.
Previous experience working in steel is preferred
Above average knowledge of MS Office

Good understanding of the construction industry and current practices in terms of methods used in construction.
Good attention to detail.
Good analytical and problem solving skills required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
