MPE is a small highly technical consultancy company with offices in Germany (Tübingen, Hamburg and Kiel), UK (London), and Tunisia (Tunis). We still consider ourselves to be a quite young company having been founded in 2012. In this time, we have quickly grown a reputation for delivering a wide range of technical services including: highly specialised EMT & RMS simulation studies, harmonic studies, grid integration of renewable energy expertise, electrical design, protection studies, grid expansion planning, techno-economic studies, and general support, training and workshops. We always try to go that little bit further, so we deliver the best solution for our customers – this is really important to us.
We are currently looking for direct applications from experienced power system engineers who are fluent in Spanish and English, and are keen to join the MPE team in our UK (London) or one of our German offices (Tübingen or Hamburg) – either in country or working remotely from your own country.
Job Description
Are you a problem-solving power system engineer? Would you like to join the team in UK or Germany (in person or remote) to work on a range of challenging projects in Europe and various other places around the world? If so, then we would like to hear from you!
We are looking for highly motivated expert problem solvers with experience and in-depth knowledge of items listed above to help us work on transitioning power systems towards renewable generation across the world. You should have an electrical engineering degree with a specialism in power systems, or you should be able to demonstrate that you have gained equivalent experience in the power system analysis field. You should also be fully fluent in written and spoken English.
The main qualities we are looking for in our candidates include the following: coding ability (Python is a bonus!), logical thinking, ability to break a complex problem into simple sub-tasks, first principles power system knowledge, adept at learning new simulation software packages, attention to detail, and the ability to write an awesome report & to interact professionally with our clients.
Qualifications
For the current Senior Power System Engineer Consultant position, we require engineers with the following specialities:
- Electrical Engineering Degree
- Experience of working with transmission or distribution large network studies from different countries
- EMT and / or RMS study experience (including building of models and simulation automation)
- Ability to code to automate repeat tasks
Bonus (but not essential) specialities:
- Renewable generation experience
- Protection coordination experience
- Earthing system design
- Harmonic studies
- Techno-economic studies
- Real time simulation / hardware in the loop testing (especially RTDS)
- HVDC (current source and voltage source technology)
- Power system software development or development
- Training / workshop delivery experience
- DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PowerFactory
- PSCAD
- Insulation coordination
- Real time simulation
- RTDS
- Opal
- General AI experience
- Other language skills (German, Arabic, Mandarin in particular)
