MaktabaTech was founded by four women with an engineering and design background as part of the MIT Media Lab Refugee Learning Accelerator program. Eager to make a change and deliver a message that believes in the power of reading and language learning in bridging culture and elevating young minds, the project soon grew to become a start-up targeting all children, and not just refugee learners. MaktabaTech is recruiting an app developer to develop an Augmented Reality mobile app with further developments. The work is from home and is project-based.

MaktabaTech is a social startup founded by AUB students that aims to reinstate the love of reading and facilitate the language learning process for refugee children.

We are hiring a student/graduate with knowledge and experience in app development and augmented reality. It is required to develop an application that augments selected book pages with graphics, animations, sounds, and text when the tablet/device in overlaid with the pages through camera. Gamification may be a future requirement.

The development will be done in phases and prone to change following testing/feedback. It is preferable that the app works both with Android and iOS devices.
