Job Description

Job Title:  Record to Report Team Lead

Reporting to:  Head of Finance Center of Excellence - Africa

Department:  Finance

Summary of the role      

Your objectives should focus on maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the team, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities             

Undertake a supervisor role and be expected to manage a team of Accountants. The primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5-10 accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide guidance/training and support to team members in resolving complex accounting issues and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Provide work allocations and, backup plan.
  • Key responsibility of building a strong GL team and contributing to implementation across the Group.

General Accounting Processes

  • Oversee general accounting functions, including journal entries, B/S reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closings to ensure they are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.

Financial Reporting

  • Ensure that transactional accounting postings to general ledgers are accurate for the purpose of charging to the correct expense accounts and quality of transactions.
  • Review and provide data and information for periodic management reporting.
  • Validate all reports prepared by the team and submit to Accounting Managers in respect of the deadline and ensure the quality of reports.
  • Prepare G&A management reports, provide in-depth analysis with Actual vs Actual and Actual vs Budget on a monthly basis.
  • Record and ensure the accuracy and timely reconciliations of Intercompany ledgers and comply with Group Intercompany Policy

Process management:

  • Identify areas for process improvement. Implement new procedures or systems to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Work with the SSC head on KPIs measurements, implementations, and enhancements of the process in charges
  • Identify financial risks and implement controls to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with IT to address any system issues or upgrades
  • Lead or participate in special projects as the key super-user
  •  Any other responsibility may be assigned by the Head of the Centre of Excellence

Qualifications

Qualifications and Education       

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major in accounting/Finance.
  • CPAK or Finalist
  • ACCA Finalist

Experience     

  • 5 years /more of related experience in SSC or COE
  • Experience in a public accounting and a commodity trading company is preferable but not required

Technical Competences

  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • SAP FICO expertise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Accounting software.
  • Understanding and practice of US GAAP and IFRS
