About the role: Technical Writer II

Perform writing and editing tasks for client-facing technical documents, such as system design documents, application user manuals, and report and interface specifications. Work independently to manage document review and revision timelines for state clients and specific software applications.

About the team:  

The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Technical Documentation and Training team is part of FIS Government Solutions. We are a group of 4 writers in the US and India with a mission to deliver quality materials on time to meet the needs of our state clients and internal stakeholders.

What you will be doing?

  • Take ownership of documentation deliverables, submission timelines, and approval processes for large state clients
  • Research complex technical topics and write, edit and proofread related material for use in client-facing documents such as system design documents, application user manuals, and report and interface specifications
  • Manage document review and approval processes with subject matter experts and clients and incorporate feedback to ensure accurate content and timely delivery
  • Adhere to team, corporate, and client standards for organizing and maintaining documentation deliverables to make them accessible to internal stakeholders, including client advocates
  • Participate in writing team’s efforts to maintain and improve team policies and style guidelines and standards for published documents

What you will need:

  • 5+ years of recent experience as a technical writer in a software development environment responsible for researching and updating an established documentation set
  • 5+ years of recent experience using the following software in a professional context: Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Adobe (Acrobat Professional), JIRA, & SharePoint, with strong skills in MS Word
  • 3+ years of recent experience using graphics software (Snagit, etc.,) to capture and edit screenshots for user documentation
  • 3+ years of recent experience working closely with product, project, and account management teams to ascertain documentation requirements and deliver accurate materials when expected
  • Tenacity and good judgment when interacting with subject matter experts to ensure that you obtain the information you need to complete tasks
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in quality and usability of documents for target audiences
  • Effective planning and time management skills with the ability to work independently and seek out the information you need from various sources

Added bonus if you have:

  • Experience with public benefit programs, especially EBT (SNAP, TANF, WIC)
  • Experience in financial services / banking technology
  • Experience developing graphics to represent system flows and data relationships
  • Experience using content management software or familiarity with content management concepts
  • Experience developing training materials and leading training sessions
  • Experience with short video development and production tools

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $65,440.00 - $106,660.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
