We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal API Engineer to guide the design and development of a new productized banking API platform using node.js and serverless technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the architecting, designing, and implementation of scalable and secure productized APIs that power the financial world. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the highest standards of software development and API design.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the development of our domain model, and the design of a high-performance, productized banking API platform using node.js and serverless technologies.

  • Collaborate with enterprise/solution/application architects, product owners/product managers, API designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Ensure code quality, security, and maintainability through code reviews and best practices.

  • Lead initiatives around API performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and improvement within the team.

  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to the overall engineering strategy of the organization.

What you bring:

  • Proven JavaScript API engineer with demonstrated experience in node.js.

  • Demonstrated experience with domain modeling and API design

  • Demonstrated understanding of public-facing, productized APIs build on an event-driven, microservice-based, serverless architecture leveraging operational data stores to optimize and locate data near the APIs.

  • Experience in designing and building data pipelines in node.js or python.

  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design patterns and best practices.

  • Experience with AWS Lambda, RDS Postgres, and Fargate desired

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, preferred, but experience is the deciding factor

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $145,900.00 - $245,120.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
