We are the FIS Core banking team, and we build Banking platforms which are used by hundreds of community and regional banks. We are recognized as an industry leader for providing a Banking Solution as a SaaS offering. Our modern banking solution provides a rich set of business capabilities for community banks to support their retail and commercial customers.
About the role:
As the Director of Quality Engineering for FIS Regional and Community Banking platforms directs the quality assurance engineering team. This role develops, publishes, and provides governance related to testing standards and procedures within the Banking Platform group. In this role, you will head the test engineering team members who are aligned to agile teams and are responsible for automating test cases which provide test coverage for FIS’ Banking Platform APIs and back-end processes.
The Director of Quality Assurance Engineering is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, regulations, governance requirements, functional, and non-functional requirements for a given project. Additionally, this role is responsible for the creation and enforcement of quality standards specific to the Banking Platform organization.
What you will be doing?
- Develop and execute a comprehensive quality strategy for applications across banking platforms, ensuring high standards of reliability, performance, usability, and security.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the quality engineering team, overseeing test planning, execution, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain testing frameworks, tools, and technologies for functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and automated testing of mobile apps.
- Ensure the high-quality delivery products on time – the outcome should be “It Just Works”.
- You will be fully accountable for the quality assurance of each feature and product launch.
- Build and manage QA team, including hiring, coaching, and mentoring team members both onshore and offshore.
- Help plan, track, and drive on all QA team activities and establish KPIs/metrics to evaluate testing efforts and quality, and implement changes as necessary.
- Build product expertise to identify and close gaps in automation test coverage of our products.
- Be the advocate for testability, conduct test automation code reviews, evangelize test automation best practices, and drive defect prevention throughout the development lifecycle.
- Work closely with Engineering, UX, and Product Teams in evaluating the requirements and identify acceptance criteria to ensure quality.
- Be hands-on and perform functional, regression, and release testing alongside team members.
- Provide training, mentorship, and career development opportunities for the mobile quality engineering team, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth.
What you will need?
- Proven experience in leading and managing quality engineering teams, including recruitment, training, performance management, and career development.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor teams towards achieving quality goals and driving continuous improvement.
- Extensive experience in quality assurance (QA) methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of testing frameworks, tools, and automation techniques for functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and security testing of mobile apps.
- 15+ years of relevant QA/testing automation experience with 10+ years of people management experience
- Hands-on experience in implementing and managing automated testing including CI/CD integration using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/C D, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience in QA Automation frameworks such as WebDriverIO using JS/TS with expertise in Agile QA methodologies, scrum preferred.
- Great collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including development, QA, DevOps, product management, and senior leadership.
- Relevant certifications in quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB, ASQ), test automation (e.g., Selenium, Appium), agile methodologies, or mobile app development would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with specific experience and demonstrable success with the full software development lifecycle; and using the Agile Development processes
- Experience developing and testing entire systems, with capability to understand details mixed technologies.
- Successful track record as a 'hands on' leader within QA teams, building and managing teams to a level of top-notch professionals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or directly relevant industry experience
- Master's degree in computer science or directly relevant industry experience is added advantage.
