Financial Reporting Manager

The Opportunity

We are looking for someone who is energetic, motivated, and skilled to join our team as a Financial Reporting Manager. In this role, you will be part of a team that handles reporting and analysis in our Controller's department. You will be responsible for producing financial statements and management reports, coordinating with internal and external auditors, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and disclosure requirements.

The Management, Statutory Audited and Regulatory Reporting team is part of MassMutual’s Corporate Finance Organization. The Impact

As a Financial Reporting Manager, your role will be to manage the delivery of regulatory reporting requirements and support management through analysis and discussion. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial reporting controls are executed effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding regulatory reporting requirements and producing audited statement reports for senior management, external auditors, regulatory bodies, and the board of directors
  • Monitoring and documenting key controls, such as regulatory filings, management discussion and analysis, and quality assurance validations
  • Supervising a team to prepare, review, and submit financial reports
  • Working in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Maximizing the value and optimizing reports created by the team
  • Providing insightful analysis to key stakeholders in a timely and clear manner
  • Researching and interpreting changes in accounting policies and industry trends
  • Leading and participating in complex projects related to regulatory reporting
  • Driving continuous improvement and efficiencies in reporting processes

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience working with audited and/or regulatory statements
  • 3+ years of experience in GAAP reporting in life insurance companies
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis and reporting
  • 3+ years of experience with general ledger reporting cubes and data gathering

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA certification
  • Knowledge of advanced insurance and investment statutory accounting principles
  • Experience with tools and applications for reporting and analytics
  • Skilled in validating and testing data to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Strong competencies in customer focus, innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building, and influencing
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
