As a Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in driving a major transformation within Capital One. The Operational Excellence team in the Cyber Identity and Access Management (IAM) organization is seeking a technical expert to join our team. You will be responsible for architecture, engineering, and production support for the entire IAM portfolio. Your focus will be on improving automation, resiliency, and reliability. This role involves working closely with application engineers, functional counterparts, and IAM Engineering leadership. What You'll Do: - Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other teams to identify technical and functional needs of systems and applications in order to improve automation, resiliency, and reliability across the IAM portfolio. - Lead initiatives to improve the health and availability of the IAM application portfolio, including automating processes, reducing one-off solutions, and creating a more resilient, secure, and available set of IAM services. - Take charge in responding to operational disruptions, finding long-term solutions, and improving the stability, reliability, and resiliency of IAM applications and infrastructure. - Influence IAM application teams to adopt technologies, processes, and best practices that improve the availability, resilience, and scalability of IAM solutions. - Proactively think ahead and incorporate operational excellence into design and implementation. - Provide consulting and hands-on support to multiple product areas, resolving application deployment and management issues while minimizing customer impact. - Participate in the design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features, with a focus on post-production support. - Drive process improvements and enhancements to automation, continuously improving the production environment. - Stay abreast of tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other engineers. - Encourage innovation, diversity, teamwork, and outside-of-the-box thinking. Basic Qualifications: - High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification - At least 8 years of experience in engineering and operational support of IAM services, such as identity lifecycle management, user and application authentication and authorization, privileged access management, or native cloud IAM services. - At least 6 years of experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - At least 2 years of experience supporting infrastructure components of applications. Preferred Qualifications: - AWS certifications for Developer, Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administration. - 2+ years of experience in Agile practices. - 2+ years of experience with multiple programming languages, such as C++, Java, Python, or SQL.
