As a Platform Engineer, you will be at the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. The Operational Excellence team within the Cyber Identity and Access Management (IAM) organization is seeking a technical expert to join our team. We provide architecture, engineering, and production support for the entire IAM portfolio with a focus on improving automation, resiliency, and reliability. In this role, you will work closely with application engineers, functional counterparts across the company, and IAM Engineering leadership. What You’ll Do: - Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other teams to identify technical and functional needs of systems and applications to improve automation, resiliency, and reliability across the IAM portfolio. - Lead initiatives to improve the health and availability of the IAM application portfolio, including automating processes, reducing one-off solutions, and creating a more resilient and secure set of IAM services. - Support responses to operational disruptions and advocate for long-term solutions and systems improvements to enhance stability, reliability, and resiliency of IAM applications and infrastructure. - Influence IAM application teams to adopt technologies, processes, and best practices that improve the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of IAM solutions. - Proactively think ahead and design solutions with operational excellence in mind. - Provide consulting and hands-on support to resolve application deployment and management issues, minimizing impact to our customers. - Participate in the design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features, with a focus on release and post-production support. - Drive improvements to processes and automation design to continuously enhance the production environment. - Stay informed about tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community. - Encourage innovation, implement cutting-edge technologies, promote outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. - Utilize scripting languages like Python, SQL, Ruby, and groovy, container orchestration services like Docker and ECS, configuration management tools like Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services. Basic Qualifications: - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification. - At least 8 years of experience with engineering and operational support of IAM services. - At least 6 years of experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. - At least 2 years of experience supporting the infrastructure component of applications. Preferred Qualifications: - AWS certifications for Developer, Solutions Architect, or SysOps Administration. - 2+ years of experience in Agile practices. - 2+ years of experience with multiple programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, or SQL. Salary Range: The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location.
