Position: General Nursing

Full-Time

Nights: 7pm-7:30am

Summary:

The Staff Nurse provides specialized nursing care based on knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care, focusing on family-centered care for individual or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages and developmental stages.
  • Perform leadership and professional duties.
  • Provide patient-centered care.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and education of staff members on clinical matters. May be responsible for training new employees and mentoring clinical staff.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices.
  • Support provider staff and promote collaboration for efficient operation, quality care, and exceptional customer service for pediatric patients through a team approach.
  • Perform system-based practice duties.
  • Utilize informatics and technology.
  • May be temporarily assigned to different areas within Akron Children's Hospital based on patient needs and required knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to the team, emphasizing collaboration and quality service to patients and families.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and complete them accurately and timely.
  • Experience working with different levels within an organization.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
  • Experience working with electronic medical record systems (such as EPIC) or similar software preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Educational requirement: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or obtain within 5 years from the date of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support training certification from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be required based on the assigned department or unit.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred.
  • No supervisory experience required.
