Position: PRN Nights 7p-730a
Minimum of 36 hours within a 6-week schedule
Summary:
The Staff Nurse at Akron Children's Hospital provides specialized nursing care based on the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for individual or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
- Provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages and developmental stages.
- Perform leadership and professional duties.
- Deliver patient-centered care.
- Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
- Mentor and provide education to clinical staff on relevant issues.
- Utilize evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with the provider staff to ensure efficient, quality care and exceptional customer service.
- Engage in systems-based practice.
- Demonstrate proficiency in informatics and technology.
- Temporarily work in different areas of Akron Children's Hospital based on patient needs.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative work environment that provides quality service to patients and their families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with people at different levels within an organization.
- Preferred experience in healthcare.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) or similar software preferred.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required. Additional certifications may be required depending on the assigned department or unit.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Ohio required.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- No supervisory experience required.
