Job Description

Stanford University Cardiovascular Institute is looking for a Life Science Research Professional 1 to help with research projects and perform experiments.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct experiments in the lab and/or field
  • Keep detailed records of experiments and results
  • Analyze experiment results using life science methods
  • Stay updated with new research procedures and apply learnings
  • Contribute to publishing findings
  • Assist with lab maintenance and support
  • Train new staff or students on lab procedures
  • Perform nuclei isolation and single-cell omics assays
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques
  • Handle mice (if comfortable)
  • Interest in bioinformatics analysis preferred


Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in basic molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with droplet-based single-cell gene expression and/or ATAC-sequencing experiments
  • Tissue culture experience using induced pluripotent or embryonic stem cells
  • Knowledge of RNA-based assays
  • Experience with nuclei isolation
  • Ability to handle mice (if comfortable)
  • Interest in bioinformatics analysis
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field

  • Ability to apply scientific knowledge to problem-solving
  • Detailed record-keeping
  • General computer skills and ability to learn scientific applications
  • Ability to work under deadlines with guidance
  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects
  • Comfortable working in a dusty, dirty, and odorous environment
  • Potential for repetitive motion

  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases
  • Personal protective equipment may be required
  • May require extended or unusual work hours based on research needs

The expected pay range for this position is $53,000 to $76,000 per year/hour.
