Biostatistician IV - Smidt Heart Institute

  • The Biostatistician IV collaborates with researchers, scientists, nurses, and other research staff to provide statistical services for sophisticated research projects.
  • Applies theoretical knowledge to solve complex problems.
  • Develops and implements advanced biostatistics applications.
  • Provides reporting and interpretation of statistical findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supports medical research through statistical analysis and programming.
  • Provides statistical consulting services to the Institutional Review Board.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides statistical and analytical services to researchers, clinicians, and management.
  • Assists investigators in translating scientific questions into testable hypotheses.
  • Designs and conducts sophisticated experiments and studies.
  • Performs a variety of statistical analysis using appropriate methodologies.
  • Summarizes and interprets analysis findings for reports and publications.
  • Reviews and ensures the integrity of research studies involving human subjects or animals.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Research Office and other departments.
  • Participates in professional meetings and educates others in biostatistics.
  • Conducts biostatistical methodology research and publishes in reputable journals.
  • Provides advice on questionnaire design and database management.
  • May construct and manage research databases.

Educational Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Biostatistics, bioinformatics, or relevant field.
  • Doctorate degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in computer proficiency, statistics, and research.
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheets and reporting tools.
  • Experience in statistical analysis, model development, and regression analysis.
  • Expertise in relational databases and statistical software.
  • Experience in healthcare and data management is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Able to perform moderate lifting.
  • Able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to read and operate standard office equipment.
