In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of vehicles. Your expertise will help keep our customers' vehicles in top shape and on the road.

You will work independently on major and minor repairs, conduct road tests to diagnose issues, and complete maintenance tasks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring vehicles are properly maintained and safe for our customers
  • Performing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision
  • Repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe
  • Using Penske's tools and technologies for repairs and diagnostics
  • Continuing your professional development through Penske's technician training
  • Completing other assigned projects and tasks as instructed by your supervisor

  • If you hold a current and valid CDL, you will be eligible for an additional $2.00/hour rate.

Schedule: Day shift; Monday - Friday

General Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair is a plus
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting major components, as well as relevant certifications (preferred)
  • Proficiency in using various tools and equipment of the trade
  • A valid driver’s license is required, CDL preferred
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willingness to adhere to specific instructions, guidelines, and safety measures established by Penske
  • DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policy compliance
  • Regular, predictable, and full attendance is essential
  • Willingness to travel within the district and work the required schedule

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation, and the ability to work safely in a constant state of alertness is required.

Physical Requirements:

The physical and mental demands of this job include:

  • Moving frequently, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
  • Using hands to handle tools, controls, and perform routine tasks
  • Working at heights and in all weather conditions
  • Having clear vision and hearing to navigate the work environment
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 50lbs/23kg regularly, and up to 100lbs/45kg occasionally
