Job Responsibilities: As a Respiratory Therapist II at Cedars-Sinai, you will provide respiratory therapy on the general ward, including oxygen therapy and different types of inhalation therapy. You will also perform respiratory therapy procedures in the Adult Critical Care unit, such as setting up and managing ventilator systems. Training in performing arterial punctures for blood gas analysis is required. We encourage our therapists to pursue additional training in specialty areas such as pediatric care, bronchoscopy assist, and pulmonary rehabilitation. Additional primary duties and responsibilities in specific department(s): Pulmonary Function lab:

• Schedule patient testing.
• Verify physician orders and indications for testing.
• Ensure completion of pre-test pulmonary history and exercise testing consent forms, and explain the purpose and side effects of tests to patients.
• Perform pulmonary function tests, exercise tests, and arterial punctures.
• Submit verified results for interpretation by pulmonologists.
• Complete and submit patient billings.
• Must be a certified/register pulmonary function technician upon hire.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in pulmonary function tests.

Educational Requirements:

Minimum: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar
Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar

Licenses:

• RCP State License: Must be currently licensed by the State of California as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP.)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS/ALS)
• Registered Resp Therapist (RRT)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Experience:

Minimum: 2 years

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to perform 1 & 2 man CPR.
• Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
• Must be able to move an H-size gas cylinder-and-cart as well as Departmental life support systems over Hospital floor surfaces.
• Must be able to physically roll a 200 lb, horizontally positioned patient.
• Must possess auditory and visual capabilities for responding to pulmonary life support alarms and related monitoring systems.
• Must possess mathematics skills necessary for the clinical functions of the job.
• Must possess oral and written communication skills sufficient for understanding and being understood by members of the Health Care Team.
