Your role as a Medical Laboratory Assistant is crucial. Under the general supervision of senior technical/clinical personnel, you will be responsible for various tasks such as receiving, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens or blood. You will also communicate information about tests and test results. Additionally, you may assist in orienting and training new employees. It's important to perform all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental needs of the patients we serve.
To qualify for this role, you will need:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably one year of clinical laboratory experience, including familiarity with laboratory information systems.
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, patients, physicians, and other customers of the Medical Center.
- Effective communication skills in the English language.
Physical demands of the job include frequent sitting and standing, occasional walking and bending, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances up to 10 feet. You will also need to be responsive to auditory alarms and communication devices, have acceptable visual acuity, and sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers.
