About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Distinguished Engineer, AI Systems, to help us build the foundations of our enterprise AI capabilities. You will work on various initiatives, such as designing robust and secure infrastructure, building large-scale distributed training clusters, deploying AI models for real-time use cases, and supporting cutting-edge AI research and development. You will collaborate with a team of AI engineers and researchers to envision our future capabilities and contribute to designing and implementing key services. Some of the projects you will work on include: - Designing and building fault-tolerant infrastructure for large-scale training tasks - Creating infrastructure to serve large ML models in the cloud - Deploying training clusters with optimized storage and networking capabilities - Implementing benchmarks to measure software performance within AI systems - Developing applications that leverage AI models - Designing and implementing capabilities to support MLOps for foundational models Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field - Minimum of 9 years of experience designing and building distributed computing and ML systems - Minimum of 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms in Python or C/C++ - Minimum of 3 years of experience with the full ML development lifecycle using AI and ML frameworks in the public cloud Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a focus on modern AI techniques - Experience designing large-scale distributed platforms and/or systems in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP - Experience architecting cloud systems for security, availability, performance, scalability, and cost - Experience with MLOps life cycle for delivering large AI models - Experience with building GPU clusters in the public cloud with optimized storage and networking - Familiarity with AI technology stack including prompt engineering, vector databases/knowledge bases, and LLM hosting and fine-tuning - Research publications or industry-recognized contributions in neural networks, distributed training, or SysML Compensation: - Salaries vary based on location and work arrangement (remote or on-site) - New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $315,100 - $359,700 - San Francisco, California (Hybrid On-Site): $333,900 - $381,000 - Remote (Regardless of Location): $267,100 - $304,800 We Offer: Capital One offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package that supports your total well-being.
