Job Summary: Clinical Nurse III

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Clinical Nurse III (CN III) to join our team. As a CN III, you will provide comprehensive care to complex patients, utilizing your technical and organizational skills, critical thinking abilities, and advanced assessment skills. You will serve as a mentor to other staff members, helping them reach their full potential, and contribute to the improvement of our nursing outcomes and work environment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive and safe care to patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection.
• Educate patients on disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Administer medications and therapeutic agents as prescribed.
• Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and initiate peripheral venous access.
• Observe and evaluate patient conditions, and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Demonstrate advanced assessment skills, identifying normal versus abnormal characteristics.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement individualized patient care.
• Provide care that is tailored to the specific needs of diverse patient populations, including cultural, spiritual, age, psychosocial, communication, gender, sexual orientation, economic, education, family, and condition needs.
• Ensure patient safety, taking into account age and developmental considerations.
• Choose and pursue one of the three clinical advancement pathways (Clinical Quality, Education, Leadership), and actively contribute to the improvement of nursing outcomes and the work environment.
• Assist and support co-workers, new staff members, temporary staff, and students.
• Cooridnate unit activity when assigned as charge nurse.
• Participate in unit meetings and provide input to assist in unit direction.
• Act as a change champion and participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
• Complete required skills and competencies.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

• Education: Associate Degree/College Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a state-accredited program.
• Licenses: California State RN License, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and ANCC Specialty Certification.
• Experience: 3 years of relevant acute care experience in your area of specialty.
• Must be a Clinical Nurse II at CSMC for at least one (1) year to be promoted within the clinical ladder.
