What will you do in this role?

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II) will perform routine and complex laboratory tests and analyses, using their well-developed cognitive, manipulative, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining test equipment, monitoring and evaluating testing quality, and reporting test results. The CLS II will also provide general support for the laboratory's daily operations. All job duties are performed with sensitivity and attention to the unique needs of the patients being served.

Education Requirements:

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a biological science, chemistry, medical technology, or related field.

License/Certification Requirements:

• Must hold a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility.
• ASCP or AAB Board of Registry certification, or equivalent, is preferred.

Experience:

• At least one (1) year of relevant clinical experience.
• Knowledge of current instruments like the ABI 7500 Real-Time PCR system, Luminex 200, BD LSR Fortessa Flow Cytometer, and nucleic acid extractors.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians, and other customers.
• Must have full command (verbal and written) of the English language.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds for distances up to 10 feet.
• Frequent use of computer keyboards, monitors, and telephones.
• Must be responsive to auditory alarms and communication devices, including telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
• Must have near visual acuity, including color differentiation.
• Must have sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients, and other customers.
