Summary of Duties:

• Ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients.
• Provide care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.
• Administer medications and therapeutic agents vital to implementing the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care.
• Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and other patient care procedures.
• Observe signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, and general physical condition.
• Report any concerns, make referrals, and provide appropriate care.
• Provide care to special patient populations and those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Requirements:

• Associate Degree or College Diploma in Nursing
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (state accredited program) preferred

Licenses:

• RN State License (California State RN License upon hire)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required unless a higher level of certification is needed)
• ANCC Specialty Certification (required within 1 year)
• Other competencies as required by your specialty unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, fetal heart monitoring) within 1 year

Experience:

• At least 3 years of relevant acute care experience in your specialty area
• Must be a Clinical Nurse II at CSMC for at least 1 year to be promoted within the clinical ladder

Physical Demands:

• Standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing up to 75 lbs, pulling up to 75 lbs
• Balancing, stooping, eye/hand/foot coordination, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing
