Position Details

  • Position: Medical Assistant
  • Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Shift: Varied day shifts
  • Work Location: Onsite
  • Sign-on Bonus: $2,000 (taxable), available

Summary:

The role of a Medical Assistant is to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs, perform phlebotomy as required, and administer medications as directed by Providers following policies and procedures
  • Collect data that contributes to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of assigned patients, including discharge plans, under the direction of a Licensed Nurse
  • Collect, process, and submit laboratory specimens following policies and procedures
  • Communicate patient findings and relevant information to Providers and/or Licensed Nurses using appropriate communication/documentation processes
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of care within the EPIC system
  • Perform point-of-service activities such as appointment scheduling, visit preparation, co-payment collection, and patient tracking as needed
  • Perform department-specific clinical duties, such as POCT, hearing and vision screenings, and other procedures
  • Perform routine tasks and general office duties, including faxing, copying, filing, etc.
  • Clean, stock, and prepare examination rooms
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Follow safety policies and procedures to provide a safe environment for patients, families, and staff members
  • Perform any other duties assigned

Other Requirements:

Technical Expertise:

  • Experience in phlebotomy is preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology is required
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) or similar software is preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Completion of an approved (valid) Medical Assistant Program, EMT Program, or Paramedic Program is required
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • No prior experience required
  • No supervisory experience required
