We are known for our outstanding pediatric specialties, which have been ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report. With multiple locations throughout Ohio, including hospital campuses, regional health centers, and primary and specialty care locations, we are dedicated to making high-quality care easily accessible for busy families. In 2020 alone, we had over 1.1 million patient visits. We also provide neonatal and pediatric units in partnership with other hospitals. Our Children’s Home Care Group nurses and School Health nurses offer in-home visits and clinic visits for students, respectively. Position: Staff Nurse Resource Pool I (Full-Time)
Summary:
The Staff Nurse Resource Pool I provides specialized nursing care based on knowledge derived from various sciences. They will provide clinical nursing care on multiple units based on the needs of those units.
Responsibilities:
1. Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for patients within the assigned scope of practice.
2. Provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages and developmental statuses.
3. Perform leadership and professional duties.
4. Perform patient-centered care duties.
5. Perform quality improvement and safety duties.
6. Participate in the development of education for staff members on clinical topics. May also serve as a mentor to clinical staff and assist in training new employees.
7. Practice evidence-based care.
8. Support the provider staff and promote collaboration for efficient operation, quality care, and excellent customer service for pediatric patients.
9. Perform duties aligned with systems-based practice.
10. Perform informatics and technology duties.
11. Temporarily assist in different areas of Akron Children’s Hospital based on patient needs and required knowledge and skills.
Other duties as required.
Requirements:
1. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to other staff members in a collaborative team environment.
2. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
3. Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
4. Strong organizational skills.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks.
6. Experience working with various levels within an organization.
7. Healthcare experience preferred.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software.
9. Experience with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) or similar software preferred.
10. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.
11. Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association required. Additional certifications (ACLS, NRP, PALS) may be required within one year of hire.
12. Active registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
13. Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
14. No experience supervising required.
