The Smidt Heart Institute's Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a crucial part of our facility, performing over 8,000 procedures annually. Our department serves patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we conduct various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart muscle function, and heart valve dysfunction.

As a Clinical Nurse III, you will be responsible for applying the nursing process and delivering patient care. You will work in a fast-paced environment, specifically in the Cardiac Catheterization procedure rooms. In addition to your duties, you will be cross-trained to circulate, monitor, and scrub for invasive procedures for patients from newborns to older adults. This role also involves providing comprehensive care for cardiac patients from admission to discharge, including extended hours in a procedure setting with exposure to x-rays. You will be expected to provide on-call coverage for emergency procedures during evenings, nights, and weekends, with an expected response/arrival time of 30 minutes or less.

The schedule for this position will require three 12-hour shifts, with four out of 12 weeks consisting of a 4-day workweek to reach a full-time status. Additionally, you will be on-call for nights and weekends approximately nine times within a six-week period. If you live more than 30 minutes away from the facility, accommodations will be provided in a local hotel during on-call shifts to ensure your availability for emergencies.

Educational Requirements: - BSN strongly preferred Licenses: - Valid California RN License required - BLS and ACSL certifications required - CCRN, CVRN, or RCIS certifications preferred (Candidates must commit to obtaining a specialty certification within one year of hire to maintain CN III status) Experience: - Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care Nursing experience required - Minimum of 1 year of Critical Care experience strongly recommended - Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath Lab/EP experience preferred for CN II or III qualification in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for all patient populations - Minimum 2 years of appropriate Cath Lab/EP experience required for CN III qualification, otherwise will be considered CN II - Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse III (minimum 3-5 years RN experience) - Critical Care or Emergency Department experience strongly recommended Physical Demands: - Must have the physical ability and perceptual acuity to perform all direct and indirect patient care tasks satisfactorily - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, transport patients and equipment, maneuver gurneys, and transfer patients from bed to procedure table - Capable of standing for extended periods while wearing lead aprons weighing 15-20 lbs - Must be available for on-call shifts approximately nine times during every six-week period Working Title: Registered Nurse III - Cardiac Cath Lab - 12-hour Days Department: Cardiac Cath.
