About this position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Scientist to join our Enterprise Digital & Analytics team within the US Customer Marketing and Personalization Data Science department. As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing customer relationships and driving profitability for American Express through cutting-edge analytics and data science. Your primary focus will be on developing modeling and data science solutions to optimize the presentation of offers to our US customers, ensuring the most relevant and engaging offers are at the forefront. This role is instrumental in maximizing the performance of our Enterprise marketing capabilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on various modeling and data science initiatives to rank order offers for our US customers, with a focus on Click models.
  • Utilize statistical modeling, machine learning, and programming to enhance offer presentation and marketing performance.
  • Translate business problems into mathematical programming problems and develop solvable solutions to deliver actionable insights and optimal control policies.
  • Independently lead and manage projects, adhering to Agile methodologies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships, both internally and externally, and influence key stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and leverage innovative thinking and tools from academia and other sectors.
  • Experiment with data exploration and seek creative solutions to problems.

 

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of practical experience applying advanced analytical and machine learning techniques to drive business results.
  • Proficient in statistical modeling, probability, and statistics.
  • Strong programming skills, with expertise in an analytical language (e.g., Python, R).
  • Experience working with databases (e.g., Hive, SQL or equivalent ) and handling large datasets.
  • Familiarity with Big Data tools and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and distributed computing environments.
  • Deep understanding of machine learning and statistical algorithms, including boosting, random forest, KNN, and neural networks/deep learning.
  • Data visualization experience is a plus. 

Additional Information:
True hybrid role – worker must be onsite twice per week in New York. Onsite schedule will be discussed during interview process.

Three-month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance. True title for this role is EDA Manager/Sr Manager – Customer Marketing and Personalization Analytics and Data Science

Pay Range: $40-44/hour
