Job Description 

Be Part of Atkins Strategic Advisory team, where we are seeking a Manager to our rapidly growing Smart Cities practice. 

You will be supporting Citiesvisions and journeys becoming smarter, more liveable, and sustainable communities. 

Your key focus will be to manage and lead the day-to-day activities on our engagements, assist in building our Smart City Practice and the team. The role is based in UAE or KSA and will require travel. 

 

The key responsibilities for the role include:   

  • Lead the delivery of digital transformation and smart city projects across the region. develop analysis, engage client teams and stakeholders, and deliver high-quality work products. 

  • Provide technical and expert support in the design and preparation of actions and inclusive urban development/future city processes. 

  • Offer innovative approaches to future city actions by developing Smart City Masterplans and processes, based on global trends but considering local contexts, demands and place-sourced opportunities. 

  • Identify traditional urban infrastructure assets (both physical and social) and enhance this with elements of future technology urban infrastructure assets including datasets, networks, connected devices, and sensors, for future smart services and applications. 

  • Work alongside Atkins various engineering disciplines, among which Land Use & Built Environment Master planning and Urban Design, Environmental & Transportation teams, to identify a portfolio of smart city solutions with potential to improve the quality of life and address dimensions such as Smart Economy, Smart Environment, Net Zero Agenda, Smart Living, Smart Mobility, Smart People and Smart Governance. 

  • Establish relationships with client personnel at appropriate levels to cultivate and manage business development opportunities and to be able to develop the appropriate Business Case and next steps to Project realisation.  

 

Required Skills and expertise: 

  • Bachelor's degree in technology engineering discipline or a related field. 

  • Master’s degree is a plus 

  • At least 8 years of experience in a Smart City Advisory / Technology Consulting role or a relevant position with transferable skills. 

  • Solid understanding in all phases of smart city and digital transformation projects 

  • Solid understanding with Smart Cities requirements in a Master Planning and Urban Design context and processes, with national or regional government entities and/or with property and infrastructure developers  

  • Experience in developing digital strategies and implementing digital transformation in large organizations, communities, developments, cities, and regions, enabling clients to explore the potential of digital technologies. 

  • Strong understanding in an asset intensive industry i.e., Rail, Aviation, Cities and buildings, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Rail, Highways and Marine/Ports 

  • Proven ability to work in a customer facing/consulting environment 

  • Experience delivering projects through all phases of the lifecycle 

  • Strong appreciation of the ‘Smart Cities Landscape’ in the Middle East and have networks within the supply chain/vendor environment    

  • Strong analytical skills, creativity, and communication skills to encourage clients to execute their digital roadmap.  

  • Strong Presentation skills 

  • Strong understanding & experience in cybersecurity and specifically cities cyber resilience. 

  • Strong understanding & experience in Sustainability and specifically the relationship between Smart and Sustainable Cities  

  • Expertise in relevant technologies (4G/5G communications, IoT, big data and analytics) and their impact on society, business and economy
