As Data Protection Officer APAC (APAC DPO), this position will report to the Chief Data Protection Officer on regional privacy policy, strategy and to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws. The APAC DPO works closely and collaboratively with the EMEA DPO, LATAM DPO and Privacy Legal team and other stakeholders across the company.
Responsibilities:
    • Fulfilling the duties of Binance APAC DPO under existing Privacy laws in the region
    • Monitoring compliance with the Global Privacy Program across APAC regions including ensuring adherence to data protection-related policies
    • Making filings with, responding to, and act as the contact point for the supervisory authority and maintaining relationships with, data protection regulators across APAC
    • Being the point of contact for local regulators for data management oversight related questions for the region
    • Act as a point of contact for data subjects with regards to significant issues
    • Communication with external stakeholders, Data Protection Authorities and data subjects
    • Participate in the development of our global Data Protection strategy and central global program
    • Design and run APAC Data Protection Program, including policies and procedures, and processes and link this with the central global privacy program
    • Defining regionally-specific policies, standards and training as well as procedures and tools to be operationalized within business units
    • Supporting and advising on data protection impact assessments
    • Delivering training on privacy, data protection and policy matters so as to complement and enhance the global privacy training
    • Lead investigations on data breaches or incidents
    • Oversee the Records of processing activities (“Register”)
    • Review and advise on rules regarding record of processing activities
    • Monitor that the record of processing activities (“Register”) is kept up to date, filed under the responsibility of the controller/processor, in line with defined rules and make it available upon Data Protection Authorities request
    • Build and implement an awareness program
Requirements:
    • 7+ years’ experience with significant knowledge and experience in the Data Protection/Privacy and financial/banking sector with a specific focus on the APAC region
    • Experience with crypto markets or exchanges a plus
    • Ability to qualify and desire to serve as Binance Data Protection Officer APAC under applicable laws
    • Located in the APAC timezone
    • Fluent in Chinese and English is desired, due to work nature
    • Expert knowledge of the APAC data protection legislations of at least one of the following countries as well as ability and interest to get familiar with the rest: Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
    • Qualification on Data Privacy such as IAPP Information Privacy Professional/Asia (CIPP/A) and Europe (CIPP/E), IAPP Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPP/IT), Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) or equivalent data privacy qualification
    • Strong knowledge of GDPR and ePrivacy
    • Experience in interacting with regulators
    • Experience in project management and change management
    • Experience of advising on regulatory requirements, in particular the ability to explain in “plain English”
    • Experience in Data protection and privacy compliance, consulting or legal experience advising global businesses with strong APAC presence preferred
    • Strong knowledge and interest in Information Technology, digital and new technologies and understanding of information security principles and controls
    • Experience in the financial services, KYC procedures, anti-money laundering regulations and implications, mobile payments, information technologies, data security, internet and technology industries preferred
    • Managerial experience desirable
