Our stack

  • Ruby on Rails monolith
  • Migrating to  a micro services architecture in Go, Ruby or Elixir
  • Postgres, MySQL and Redis
  • ElasticSearch and Algolia
  • gRPC
  • Kafka
  • React, React testing library, TypeScript, Next.js and Storybook
  • iOS and Android mobile apps in Swift and Kotlin
  • AWS hosting,Kubernetes, monitored with Grafana/Loki
  • Continuous deployment with Github & CircleCI 


 

Our organization (the famous “Spotify model” adapted so differently by each company)

  • 120 people (engineers, product people and data teams)
  • 2 product tribes with 5 impact teams in each
  • 1 platform tribe including QA team, 1 developer experience team, 1 devops & SRE team
  • Each team with a hands-on Engineering Manager
  • Staff Engineers report directly to Head of Engineering
  • Software craftsmanship: clean code, testing, peer programming, code review, etc.


 

What will be your mission in a few words? 

  • Scope: As a Staff Engineer, your playground is all the tech platform, with strong expertise on our stack back-end side. 

 

  • Impact: We expect you to have an impact at the whole Tech department level, and to shine inside and outside the company, as one of our tech ambassadors.

 

  • Mindset: You are a Tech leader who is recognized as a clear expert that sets architectural direction in one or multiple domains. You leverage their skills to lead multi-person projects, grow other engineers, promote best practices and influence strategic initiatives.

    • You anticipate technical issues at the product level and make architectural and design decisions to avoid them
    • You are the expert on large sections of our codebase.

What will be your next challenges? 

  • Consolidate our tech stack, practices and tooling across our microservice architecture into a cohesive technical vision
  • Lead explorations and architectural design of complex new features and integrations with new tools
  • Supervise the proper documentation of our architectural decisions and practices
  • Participate in the animation of the community of backend developers 
  • Guide improvements to our platform’s monitoring, alerting and reliability
  • Mentor and assist other backend developers and teams on complex problems, notably the continuation of our migration to a distributed microservice architecture

Qualifications

Who are you? 🎯

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent years’ experience
  • Minimum of 6 years’ professional experience with Ruby development
  • Experience working in, AWS, Microservices, PgSQL, Kafka,  ElasticSearch,  GIT, Ruby and/or Go
  • Experience working in Agile and in a DevOps environment
  • Understanding of various design patterns and OOP paradigm
