A residential technology integration company specializing in audio/video systems, networking, surveillance, lighting control, and automated shading systems for high-end homes is seeking an experienced Field Project Manager.
This role combines strong technical knowledge with leadership ability to oversee installation teams and manage residential smart home projects from planning through completion.
The Field Project Manager blends field leadership, project planning, and operational coordination. This role ensures projects are properly prepared, technicians are productive, installations meet quality standards, and projects stay on schedule.
The ideal candidate has significant hands-on field experience in residential AV or smart home systems and is capable of leading technicians while managing project logistics and readiness. This role operates independently in day-to-day project execution while maintaining communication with leadership regarding decisions that may impact project scope, system design, or project profitability
Job Description
Leadership, Communication & Decision Framework
- Take ownership of daily field operations, technician coordination, and project execution with minimal supervision
- Communicate with leadership when clarification or guidance is needed
- Recognize when decisions may affect system design, client expectations, or project profitability and escalate appropriately
- Maintain clear and timely updates regarding project progress, risks, or jobsite challenges
- Demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism when navigating complex technical projects and field situations
Key Responsibilities Field Project Management
- Manage residential AV, networking, surveillance, lighting, and shading integration projects from installation through completion
- Review project scope, drawings, and system documentation prior to installation to ensure field readiness
- Conduct site visits to oversee installations, troubleshoot issues, and support technicians
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to maintain project alignment and timelines
- Ensure installations follow company standards and industry best practices
Project Planning & Readiness
- Review project documentation, floor plans, and system designs before technicians are deployed
- Ensure projects are prepared with required materials, equipment, and documentation
- Identify potential issues or missing components prior to installation
- Coordinate equipment procurement and material staging
- Work with leadership to prioritize projects and allocate resources appropriately
Team Leadership & Technician Management
- Lead and supervise installation technicians in the field
- Ensure technicians remain productive and follow installation standards
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to technicians and junior staff
- Communicate regularly with field teams to maintain accountability and workflow efficiency
- Assist with onboarding and training of new technicians
Quality Control & Project Completion
- Ensure installations meet quality standards and client expectations
- Oversee punch lists, system testing, commissioning, and final project completion
- Address service items and installation issues in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain high standards of workmanship across field operations
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary connection between field teams, office staff, and leadership
- Provide regular project updates including progress, challenges, and completion timelines
- Escalate decisions involving system design changes, cost implications, or project profitability when necessary
- Maintain accurate documentation and updates in project management platforms
- Seek guidance when technical or project decisions fall outside the established scope
Qualifications
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in residential AV or smart home integration
- 3+ years hands-on installation experience as a technician or lead technician
- Experience leading technicians or installation teams
- Strong knowledge of AV systems, networking, surveillance systems, lighting control, and shading systems (Crestron, Lutron, Saavant)
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings and floor plans
- Familiarity with project management and documentation platforms
- Ability to travel to project sites
- Valid driver's license

Compensation Full-time position
$100,000 - $120,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
