Job Description
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 4:30 pm - 3 am
Position Summary
The Sanitation General Labor position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and well-maintained distribution center environment across 2M and Operations. This position performs a variety of custodial, housekeeping, sanitation, and facility-support activities to ensure work areas, common areas, offices, restrooms, equipment, and high-traffic areas are maintained to established company standards.
The position plays an important role in supporting daily distribution center operations by maintaining cleanliness, identifying and reporting facility deficiencies, completing assigned sanitation activities, and ensuring custodial supplies and equipment are properly maintained and available for use.
The successful candidate demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively with team members and departments throughout the facility. Responsibilities may change based on operational needs, facility requirements, and business priorities.
Essential Responsibilities
Facility Housekeeping and Sanitation
- Perform routine and scheduled custodial and housekeeping duties throughout 2M and Operations.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and other surfaces throughout the distribution center.
- Clean walls, windows, doors, railings, and other facility surfaces as assigned.
- Clean and maintain offices, conference rooms, restrooms, break areas, and other common areas.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas in accordance with established company procedures.
- Maintain clean and presentable areas throughout the facility, including high-traffic and operational areas.
- Remove trash and debris from assigned areas and dispose of materials appropriately.
- Clean applicable warehouse and operational equipment as directed.
- Operate motorized floor scrubbers and other custodial equipment safely and appropriately.
- Complete assigned cleaning activities within established timeframes and according to the daily sanitation schedule.

Operations Support
- Support the needs of 2M and Operations by maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping standards throughout the distribution center.
- Respond to changing operational needs and sanitation priorities as directed by the Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness in areas impacted by normal warehouse operations, including areas requiring additional attention due to traffic, spills, debris, or other conditions.
- Coordinate with Operations and other departments when sanitation activities may affect or require access to work areas.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, facility housekeeping activities, and other assignments as needed.
Safety and Chemical Handling
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Wear, use, and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Select and use the appropriate cleaning chemical and equipment for each assigned task.
- Follow established instructions for chemical use, dilution, application, handling, and storage.
- Maintain awareness of wet floors, warehouse traffic, equipment movement, and other potential workplace hazards.
- Properly place or utilize appropriate warnings and safeguards when cleaning areas that may create slip, trip, or other hazards.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, spills, damaged equipment, or other safety concerns to the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area throughout the shift.
Supplies and Equipment
- Maintain appropriate levels of custodial and sanitation supplies for assigned areas.
- Store cleaning supplies and equipment in their designated locations when not in use.
- Notify the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or Manager when supplies or equipment are needed or require replacement.
- Properly care for and maintain custodial equipment.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and do not operate equipment that is unsafe or not functioning properly.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures and sanitation requirements.
- Complete assigned work thoroughly and with attention to detail.
- Inspect assigned areas and identify areas requiring additional cleaning or attention.
- Report facility deficiencies, maintenance concerns, or sanitation issues to the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
- Suggest improvements that may increase the effectiveness, efficiency, safety, or quality of sanitation and housekeeping activities.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve the cleanliness and organization of the distribution center.
Communication and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, Leads, Supervisors, Managers, and other departments.
- Work cooperatively with all departments within the facility.
- Communicate changes, concerns, or obstacles that may prevent assigned sanitation work from being completed.
- Maintain a professional and respectful approach when working in operational and shared areas.
- Follow direction from the Lead, Supervisor, or Manager and assist with additional assignments as business needs require.
Attendance and Accountability
- Maintain excellent attendance and dependability.
- Report to work on time and be prepared to perform assigned responsibilities.
- Return from scheduled breaks in a timely manner.
- Notify the appropriate Lead, Supervisor, or Manager before leaving the assigned work area or department.
- Complete assigned sanitation schedules and established cleaning requirements.
- Follow all company personnel policies and procedures.
- Take ownership of assigned areas and responsibilities and maintain established cleanliness and safety standards.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Education: No formal education requirement.
- Experience: No previous custodial or sanitation experience required.
- Ability and willingness to learn proper cleaning methods, equipment operation, chemical handling, and company procedures.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in custodial, housekeeping, warehouse, distribution center, or facility-maintenance environments.
- Experience operating commercial or motorized floor-cleaning equipment.
- Familiarity with workplace safety practices and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean and organized work areas.
- Excellent attendance and dependability.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good verbal communication skills.

Additional Information
The hiring range for this role is $18.00 - $20.00 an hour. Actual wages will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, and candidate skill set and experience. Base pay is just one component of Link Snacks Total Rewards package for Team Members. Other rewards may include annual incentive and program-specific awards.
