We are looking for a commercially minded National Account Manager to join our Sydney team in a newly created role supporting Independents and Key Accounts.
You will take ownership and accountability of the Metcash account, along with selected MSO groups and other key customer accounts. This role offers a blend of key account ownership, Independent Grocery Channel exposure, and hands-on national account support – providing strong development pathways into senior NAM roles.
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
- Own & Grow the Metcash Account: Lead full day-today management including Joint Business Planning, promotional strategy, range reviews, distribution tracking and new line execution to drive sustainable growth.
- Drive commercial Performance: Manage forecasting, volume tracking, pricing, rebates, trading terms, and promotional accruals, identifying growth opportunities across ranging, promotions and in-store activation.
- Develop Key Account Relationships: Build and manage strong relationships across MSO groups and other key customers, identifying growth opportunities across ranging promotions and in-store activation.
- Deliver Insights & Reporting: Monitor account performance against targets, identify risks and opportunities, and prepare compelling customer presentations, reviews and range submissions.
- Collaborate for Execution Excellence: Partner with third-party merchandising teams and internal stakeholders to maximise ranging, distribution and in-store execution, while supporting the National Business Manager as required.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table:
- Experience in FMCG sales and account management (Grocery, Independents or Convenience preferred)
- Exposure to promotional management, forecasting, claims and accrual processes
- Strong commercial acumen with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience managing pricing, rebates and trading terms
- Advanced Excel capability and experience using customer portals (advantageous)
- Ability to analyse sales data and translate insights into action
- Comfortable balancing account ownership with broader account management support responsibilities
