Job Description

The Director of Talent will play an integral role and enable business growth and a high-performing organization by developing, implementing, and leading innovative, effective talent strategies that attract, grow and retain a top-talent team member and leadership pipeline.

As a member of the HR Leadership Team, reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, you will be a hands-on, working leader with 2-3 direct reports, who, with your team, will be responsible for building, driving and sustaining talent excellence and optimizing talent frameworks, initiatives and programs for the organization.  This includes, but is not limited to, talent and performance management, talent acquisition, and learning and development along with related tactics, metrics and procedures.  In addition, this role will require that you bring proven best practices around leading talent acquisition strategy, managing headcount and resourcing plans, and linking talent programs to the needs of the business.

Specifically, you will, in partnership with the HR organization and the business: 

Talent and Performance Management                                                                         

  • Lead, build and execute talent planning strategies, frameworks, and tools to identify, develop and deploy internal talent, integrating business initiatives with and succession plans to meet current and future business needs. 
  • Lead the Performance Management efforts, with a specific focus on robust career and development planning strategies, solutions, and support for our Team Members.
  • Advance and sustain talent strategies, practices, and processes to support the attraction, development, and retention of top talent and, cultivating talent both internally and externally.
  • Lead and contribute to Human Resources initiatives and efficiencies that are aligned with company and department objectives in workforce planning, organization development, and talent management programs.

Talent Acquisition:                                                                                                  

  • Responsible for development and implementation of a Talent Acquisition Strategy to achieve the most appropriate sourcing, evaluation, and selection of highly qualified and diverse talent.
  • Drive and oversee the innovation of a streamlined recruiting process that results in superior candidate and hiring leader experience.
  • Oversee the coordination of Team Member onboarding activities and implement creative ways to enhance and solicit feedback on the onboarding experience.
  • Responsible for the further building and implementation of company employment branding strategies in close cooperation with internal, cross functional teams to execute progressive integrated recruitment solutions.

Learning & Development:                                                                                             

  • Deploy learning resources and strategies that foster the continuous, sustainable development of talent. Actively develop people leadership and change leadership, competencies and capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Create insights through analytics demonstrating internal and external data to identify skill and talent gaps. Analyze talent gaps and related metrics compared to objectives.
  • Identify, cultivate and coach team members through intentional career journeys, cross-enterprise experiences (e.g. rotations or talent moves), and leadership competency development.  Assess coaching/mentoring programs and deploy as identified by broader business and talent strategy and current needs of the business.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.                                         

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or equivalent. MAIR or MBA preferred.

Required Experience:      

  • 10+ years, including at least 3+ years of experience leading a team in talent acquisition, organizational development  and talent management operations teams, preferably in a CPG or manufacturing environment with proven leadership, coaching and demonstrated success in developing from within
  • Proven success in building and delivering talent management strategies and programs, to include but not be limited to, performance management, individual growth and development plans, succession planning, talent calibration and reviews, and learning and development.  Demonstrated project management skills to execute all programs and articulating new ways to identify, assess, and predict the success of incoming talent.
  • Ability to provide hands on recruitment and talent development support in the execution of day-to-day talent management accountabilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge with various sourcing strategies including but not limited to social networking, industry association, military, campus relations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change throughout organization
  • Experience in competency models and their use
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills to collect, analyze and communicate talent management data findings. Develop talent management goals by translating findings into usable metrics. Implement best practices by leveraging analytics and digital solutions to drive talent management strategies.
  • Manage, maintain and ensure compliance with all talent management programs and systems.  Regularly analyzes updates to federal and state laws as they pertain to talent management, and makes recommendations to the Vice President, Human Resources about aforementioned updates and change management.
  • Ensures talent management process controls are maintained, processes are documented and reviewed for accuracy on a regular basis
  • Detail oriented and must possess a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment, manage and evaluate competing priorities and exercise professional agility
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and emotional intelligence; demonstrated ability to work with and manage sensitive information and data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of leadership and team members
  • Demonstrated problem solving, presentation, and possess a strong bias to action
  • Proficient in Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Applicant Tracking Systems and online Performance Management tools

Preferred:            

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SAP
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Cornerstone
