Job Description

Join Jack Link's as our Director of Consumer Insights and Marketing Analytics! As leader on our marketing team reporting to the SVP of Marketing, the Director of Marketing Insights & Analytics will be responsible for driving strategy, design and execution of best-in-class practices through a robust establishment and application of consumer research and analytics. This leader is responsible for building, executing, consolidating and/or leveraging consumer insights and quantitative data to build actionable insights, dashboards and stories that enable intelligent business decisions.

This leadership position will have accountability for consumer insights, marketing data and analytics related to our brand portfolio including digital and eCommerce.  Strong partnership, communication and collaboration skills are required to build productive working relationships with internal cross-functional teams and external partners/data providers.  This leader will also be responsible for building and leading a small insights & analytics team.

Specifically, you will

  • Establish insights and analytics team vision and develop business processes to develop, communicate, and integrate multiple, disparate data sources
  • Guide the selection of consumer qualitative and quantitative research methodology
  • Propose, design, manage and develop strong insights through qualitative and quantitative primary research
  • Contribute as a strategic leader in key business meetings & process as voice of consumer and help enable consumer-first decision making
  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with marketing, cross-functional teams and leadership, and establish representation of our consumers
  • Lead team to develop RFPs, screeners, key strategic business questions and appropriate discussion guides to encourage effective and actionable capture of consumer insights
  • Lead and manage all aspects of sensory tasting research projects including securing agency support, product, ballot content and informing product development decisions
  • Craft “stories” that include various data sources (inclusive of consumer and market data) that assist in making data-backed, consumer-first business decisions
  • Lead team to build and maintain marketing analytic models, tools, and dashboards; understanding of Power BI and analytical tools (e.g. Nielsen, Spectra, Google Analytics, etc)
  • Lead team to implement standard analytic approaches to evaluating retail, marketing and e-com activities, including identification of efficiency & effectiveness improvement areas
  • Analyze and build recommendations using retailer and online consumer shopping data and predictive modeling to determine best allocation of marketing spend in the online retail space
  • Help drive exposure and understanding of digital analytics
  • Manage the business relationships with external strategic partners and data providers
  • Present effectively to large/senior audiences and secure alignment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher, Masters or MBA preferred
  • Consumer-First Mindset
  • Fifteen (15+) plus years in insights, with experience in custom qualitative and quantitative consumer research (both qualitative and quantitative) and various methodologies, with at least 5 years CPG experience
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic partnership with marketing teams and guiding sound decision making
  • Strong experience in brand and product concept writing
  • Ability to tell an engaging story; a clear oral and written communicator that can build a simple, clear narrative verbally and visually
  • Analytical horsepower- ability to lead or manage merging of multiple data sources and effectively develop a strong perspective and conclusions
  • 5+ years exposure, experience and understanding of Power BI and various analytical tools (e.g. Nielsen, Spectra, Google Analytics, etc)
  • Insight and expertise in marketing A/B testing models and execution
  • Experience with identifying, leading development and utilizing marketing segmentation, customer lifetime value and marketing mix models
  • Ability to develop proprietary approaches to insight and analytic work to drive business effectiveness
  • Strong negotiation experience with vendors to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ability to harmonize multiple consumer research/sensory objectives, designing testing to achieve maximum budget effectiveness
  • Experience leading consumer sensory testing preferred
  • 7+ years people management experience
  • Comfortable in dynamic work environments, demonstrating potential to adjust in process
  • Travel- must be willing to travel up to 25%
