Job Description

Summary
This position has primary responsibility for the local administration of HR-related functions including but not limited to: supporting the recruitment, offer and onboarding process, maintaining the HRIS database and personnel records, processing payroll, administering basic benefits, responding timely to employees and outside parties regarding general inquiries, and performing various other administrative support functions.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Safety:
 Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards; wear PPE (as applicable).
 Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
 Immediately report all accidents and deficiencies to management.
Leadership

Employee Relations/Culture
 Help coordinate special events and employee recognition programs.
 Provide amazing customer service by assisting employees with their questions regarding basic employment, policy, or benefits questions. When unable to answer their questions, route the employee to the correct resource and stay engaged in the process until adequate resolution.
 Support all other HR strategic goals and initiatives as needed, including benefits open enrollment, performance reviews/merit increases, and training interventions.

 Ensure fair, consistent practices and a healthy, enjoyable workplace.
 Respond to and file all unemployment claims within prescribed timelines.
 Conduct exit interviews and report on trends with proposed solutions for improvement on turnover.
 Assist HR Manager with change management initiatives.
Staffing
 Assist HR team with local recruitment efforts to including, but not limited to, application management, advertising, background checks, drug tests and creating job offers.
 Facilitate and deliver a consistent and effective onboarding program and work with management to ensure successful orientation of new hires into the organization.
Compliance
 Regularly process payroll and/or assist with payroll ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
 May assist with the management of workers compensation claims, communication with employee and plan claims administrator.
 Act as liaison for leave of absence and disability requests.
 Maintain accurate and complete I-9 files on all employees and report all new hires in the E-Verify system within legal time limits.
 Maintain compliant personnel files; manage personnel records retention according to laws and company policies.
 Become proficient in HRIS system and accurately key all employee changes (new hires, terminations, updates); ensure the highest data integrity and procedural compliance within the system.
 Run regular and ad hoc personnel, turnover and benefit reports out the HRIS system, and gather data for regulatory reporting, including the location’s EEO-1.
 Maintain local organizational charts.
Communication:
 Communicate with peers, subordinates, and leaders in an effective, timely manner.
 Suggest improvements; continuously improve the quality of all support activities.
 Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.
General:
 Stay abreast of current HR trends and changes in the regulatory environment; show initiative in continually developing in the HR profession.
 Assists department in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all company employees.
 Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
 Ability to exercise good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
 Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
 Ability to organize and plan work to meet established deadlines.
 Adhere to all company personnel policies.                                                                         Must be able to pass a drug screen.
 Regular attendance is essential.
 Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous HR experience preferred.
Language Skills/ Mathematical Skills/ Reasoning Ability
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and/or maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including good punctuation, spelling and grammar in English. (Depending on location, {English- Spanish} Bi-lingual may be required.)Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of SAP preferred. Demonstrated proficiency of computers and Microsoft Office suite. Prior experience with payroll and/or HRIS systems preferred.

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
