Job Description

The South Plant Supervisor is responsible directing and coordinating activities with packaging operations by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. The South Plant Supervisor provides leadership/direction to lead the department and ensures staffing and schedules are adhered to. They are to follow the production schedule and keep team members focused on completing orders. They are to check on each team member within their room to make sure their work environment is satisfactory. Completes documentation and carries out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Job Related Skills/Responsibilities

  • Able to perform all required duties in order to comply with USDA regulations.
  • Able to coordinate all functions related to the operations of all packaging procedures and specifications.
  • Recommend methods to improve manufacturing processes including equipment performance to ensure product quality.
  • Able to Suggest and implement changes in process to increase efficiencies and product quality.
  • Able to Implement and monitor weekly requisitions for daily supplies.
  • Identify, control, and follow up on losses incurred due to substandard supplies.
  • Able to follow Lean Manufacturing Processes; team building, consistency in high quality, preventative maintenance, good work place conditions, productive work, etc.
  • Able to Complete and review all HACCP and SSOP requirements and paperwork. This includes, but not limited to, Pre-Operational Inspection, Operational Inspection, Pre-Shipment Review, and Corrective Actions.
  • Able to Monitor the lot-tracking program and ensure its accuracy. This includes Proper Lot # documentation, Sequence assigning, and corrections.
  • Able to conduct accurate weekly, period end, and year-end departmental inventories as required by the company.
  • Able to do production paperwork, receiving, and inventory control procedures with complete accuracy.
  • Ability to perform all procedures to set-up, operate, and perform minor adjustments of all packaging machinery.
  • Ensure all required sanitation functions are within acceptable standards.
  • Attend all department and company scheduled meetings.
  • May be required to perform QA procedures during the absence of QA personnel.
  • Ability to perform activities of workers supervised.

  • Able to organize and prioritize in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language (speak, read, and write).
  • Operate a Computer. Demonstrates basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Supervise, Direct, and Instruct Team Members.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personnel

  • Ensure that all employees are adequately and properly trained in safety, sanitation procedures, chemical handling and GMP’s, etc.
  • Enforce all safety rules and company policies.
  • Ensure proper staffing is maintained, including interviewing new team members.
  • Implement and monitor training for new hires and continuing training of current team members.
  • Maintain attendance records, counsel employees with poor attendance, and follow up with coaching/discipline as appropriate.
  • Appraise work performance: conduct appropriate reviews for team members; give coaching/discipline as appropriate in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Review, correct, and approve timekeeping tool to ensure team members are paid correctly each pay period.

Education

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).

Desired Qualifications

  • Leadership Training.
  • 1-2 years related experience.
  • Prior knowledge of food processing and related equipment.

Additional Information

4th Shift Schedule:

Friday - Sunday 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM 1st Week of the pay period

Thursday - Sunday 6:30 PM to 6:00 AM 2nd Week of the pay period

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
