Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Successfully work with an established inventory management software system.
  • Understand the concepts of FIFO (First-In-First-Out) as well as LEFO (Last – Expire – First – Out) on perishable products and ensure successful implementation of FIFO throughout the warehousing system of the facilities.
  • Understand and support as necessary International shipping functions within company and customer guidelines.
  • Provide support to all cross functional team members supporting the international business from wave planning, logistics, customer service and inventory team members.
  • Review all orders and determine requirements with regard to priority, people and materials.
  • Train team members in the specific of international i.e. shipping documents including USDA paperwork, BOL, Commercial invoices, and packing lists.
  • Continuously collaborate with the Management team any ideas, concerns, and changes to improve the international order / material flow process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations. Maintain and improve compliance with import and export laws and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Regulatory Team to maintain accurate HTS classification as well as Country and Processer Origin
  • Collaborate with customs brokers and carriers to resolve problems at all points in transit
  • Ensure and have a good working knowledge of Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) standards are met and notify Manager/Foreman to maintain the correct level of Jack Link’s excellence.
  • Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards; Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) and maintain safety equipment. Ensure safety devices are installed and working properly.
  • Keep up to date on USDA regulations and be in contact with USDA inspector daily.
  • Perform paperwork, and inventory control procedures with complete accuracy.
  • Build and support a culture at the plant which values Personnel Safety and Food Safety.
  • Work with QA personnel to ensure all standards are met.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures SSOP’s.
  • Support processes to ensure export transaction screening, vendor screening, and risk mitigation
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED*

  • Preferred Experience: 1 year of international logistics experience
  • Bilingual Spanish, preferred.

Preferred: 1 year of Lead or prior international logistics supervision experience, 1 year of experience with customs compliance

*A high school diploma or GED is equivalent to two years of relevant experience

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

Solid verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and employees, as well as external partners, i.e.… USD/FSIS, CBP, APHIS other governmental and non-governmental agencies. Organized and very detail-oriented.

Must demonstrate effective leadership, problem solving, presentation, professionalism, and employee motivational skills. Proficient with computers including Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Strong knowledge of SAP preferred.

The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
